Academic Research on Participatory Governance

I completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Environmental Studies, graduating from Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand.

During my degree I focussed on the sociology of decision making around environmental and common pool resource management.

• A sociology essay: “Enabling constructive emotional experiences within New Zealand environmental resource management”. This essay goes into detail around the role of emotion in decision making and how sociological theories of emotion can help us better outline frameworks for collaboration on emotional policy issues.

• An essay outlining the constraints of New Zealand’s current policy paradigm, how it restricts the involvement of indigenous Maori, and new ideas for reforming natural resource governance.

• An essay exploring the management of lakes and freshwater by communities in several case studies, which highlights success factors for collaborative governance methods.
